Mono Jazz is a jazz quintet from Luxembourg, formed by five young musicians with a shared passion for improvisation and playing live jazz music together.

Our repertoire includes new arrangements of jazz standards as well as original compositions, blending elegance and groove in a way that fits perfectly in both relaxed settings as background music and more focused in concert situations.

We are a group of young musicians actively working to find our place and connect to the local jazz scene.

Some of us currently study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and we are proud to count among us a finalist of the Luxembourg Song Contest. We aim to grow together as a group, perform regularly, and share our music with a wider audience.

Originally founded as the Breeverombel Quartet in April 2022, the group adopted the name Mono Jazz in June 2024.

The original lineup featured Charel Breisch (piano), Felix Evers (vibraphone), Timo Romeo (drums), and Nik Bellwald (saxophone). In 2024, Olivier Kayl took over on drums, Matis Griso joined on E-bass and since September 2024, Lörinc Zakar has been the group’s pianist replacing Charel Breisch.

Biographie

Mono Jazz est un quintette de jazz originaire du Luxembourg, composé de cinq jeunes musiciens unis par leur passion pour l’improvisation et la musique live.

Notre répertoire comprend des arrangements modernes de standards du jazz ainsi que des compositions originales, alliant élégance et groove de manière à s’adapter parfaitement aussi bien à des ambiances détendues en tant que musique de fond qu’à des concerts plus centrés.

Nous sommes un groupe de jeunes musiciens travaillant activement à nous faire une place et à nous connecter à la scène jazz locale.

Certains d’entre nous étudient actuellement au Conservatorium van Amsterdam et au Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, et nous avons la fierté de compter parmi nous un finaliste du Luxembourg Song Contest. Nous aspirons à grandir ensemble en tant que groupe, à jouer régulièrement et à partager notre musique avec un public plus large.

Le groupe a été fondé sous le nom de Breeverombel Quartet en avril 2022, et a adopté le nom de Mono Jazz en juin 2024.

Les membres fondateurs étaient Charel Breisch (piano), Felix Evers (vibraphone), Timo Romeo (batterie) et Nik Bellwald (saxophone). En 2024, Olivier Kayl a rejoint le groupe en tant que nouveau batteur, Matis Griso est arrivé à la basse électrique et depuis septembre 2024, Lörinc Zakar est le nouveau pianiste, remplaçant Charel Breisch.
